This is a social group who enjoy exploring art together, and it is also a long standing group which was founded in the. 1990’s.
We are led by an experienced, professional artist who loves sharing everything he knows. He is Richard Lilly B.A.(HONS) who has been with the group since 2003 and who is equally pleased to help beginners as th help those with previous experience. In the past, his tutoring for the Open College of Arts has seen his pupils reach degree levels. Richard generally offers group tuition (but ‘do your own thing’ if you want) on a chosen subject on one month with personal assistance with your pet project on the other month.
There are two classes run by the Group. One is on a Monday evening and is held in the dining room at Bernhardt Baron Cottage Homes (opposite the Horse and Groom in the Lewes Road) The meeting starts at 7pm for two hours with a mid evening break. The second is run on a Tuesday morning at the Community Centre from 9.45 for two hours. Each class has a limit to the numbers that can be accommodated. The Group encourages people to consider joining after a free ‘taster’ attendance. The group has considerable supplies of different media so that members can try out before spending out to equip themselves.
The Group is run by the members for the benefit of the members, controlling the membership cost. Generally there is an outing or two each year connected to art and the members hold an exhibition of work each year which can be of great encouragement and makes something of a purpose for the year’s work.
Membership enquiries are best directed to the Hon. Treasurer, Bruce Margrett o 01323 484568 or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org
